Two Days, One Night

Yorkin is located on the outskirts of La Amistad International Park (PILA), so when you spend the night at a Bribri family’s home, you’ll experience the intense activity of wildlife—especially crickets, frogs, and nocturnal birds such as owls and bats. Bribri homes retain their traditional construction. Their thatched roofs provide shelter during the rainy season and keep the interior cool during sunny weather. On the morning of the second day, you’ll help weave the thatch for the roofs and learn about the benefits of this noble material. You’ll participate in maintenance work on the tropical forest educational trail, where the Bribri collectively cultivate edible, medicinal, and construction plants, to explain to visitors why the jungle is their supermarket, pharmacy, and hardware store.
